The Danish firm Gubi was founded in 1967 by architects Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen, with the aim of creating a collection of furniture that would redesign pieces from the history of design from the 30s to the present day. Old and new designs can be found in the collection, inspirations resulting from creative collaborations with emerging designers who strive to combine form and function.

Gubi introduces new design patterns that are sometimes risky both for the designer and for them to be understood and appreciated by the client. An example of this is the Gubi chair created in conjunction with Komplot Design, it was the first 3D sheet metal chair ever produced. This effort and risk was rewarded by the numerous awards and the great recognition of the MoMa that wanted to include it in its collection.
