Moises Showroom is an official distributor of MEMPHIS MILANO.

In 1981, a Milan-based collective of young furniture and other product designers led by veteran Ettore Sottsass, came together and created Memphis Milano, dominating the design scene of the 80s with their postmodern style.

The breaking of the rules had begun in December 1980, when Ettore Sottsass, one of the greats of Italian architecture, met with a group of younger architects in his apartment in Milan. He was 60 years old and his collaborators, Martine Bedin, Aldo Cibic, Michele De Lucchi, Matteo Thun and Marco Zanini, were 20 years old.

By February, the group, bolstered by the addition of George Sowden and Nathalie du Pasquier, had made more than a hundred drawings of furniture, lamps and ceramics. After decades of modernist doctrine, Sottsass and his collaborators longed to be freed from the tyranny of the list, but without a soul of "good taste" in design.
